Awnmaster was founded by John Singleton in 1979 and is now the chairman of the successful company. His son Anthony and son-in-law Leon joined the company in 1984. Awnmaster manufactured a basic range of awnings made from fiberglass and aluminium until 1988. At that point they decided to introduce more sophisticated awnings into their range of products. They also upgraded their factory and their machinery and soon became the market leaders in awning manufacture in South Africa.
